When the flurry of Android-based micro-consoles were being developed and hitting the market, Mad Catz’s MOJO was the leader of the pack and still is considering there hasn’t been any real micro-consoles coming out since then. The Obox from Snail Games isn’t really a micro-console and it isn’t even out yet so that doesn’t really count.

Today Mad Catz has announced a price decrease for their MOJO console and this isn’t a temporary sale price but a permanent change. For quite some time now it would cost you $199 to pick up a MOJO console which comes with one of Mad Catz C.T.R.L.’s as well. Starting today retailers will begin dropping the price here in North America to $149 and this price change will be hitting other territories shortly as well.

MOJO pretty much has access to everything you could want including the Ouya marketplace, OnLive, Google Play, and Tegra Zone. It also outputs 4K natively so it works quite well with the new generation of HDTV and UHD TVs. You also have support for Bluetooth 4.0, HDMI cable, and Male-to-Male USB 2.0 connections, and is powered by a Tegra 4 chipset. It can also easily be rooted as well.

As a pioneer in mobile gaming, Mad Catz’ M.O.J.O. is leading the charge in the growing micro-console for Android market with the deepest catalog of content available today. CES 2015 saw the introduction of several new micro-consoles, a move which we believe validates our strategic focus in mobile gaming, while helping to grow the category as a whole. Benefiting from a full ecosystem of compatible GameSmart mobileproducts, the M.O.J.O. is adaptable to almost any task, and with a new high-value price-point and expansive suite of applications already available, we look forward to growing M.O.J.O.’s installed base in 2015. – Darren Richardson, President and Chief Executive Officer of Mad Catz Interactive, Inc

If you don’t have a MOJO console but have been considering getting one, the lower price point does make this quite a good purchase. You can pick one up from retailers or through the Mad Catz website.
